08 Aug GILBERT BROWN AND A TEAM OF CHAMPIONS
ISA WORLDS SURFING GAMES
The ISA (International Surfing Association) will be hosting the World Surfing Games in Costa Rica this coming August 6-14. The Costa Rican team will be defending their title as champions on their home break: Playa Jaco, Costa Rica. In 2015, they took home the gold to Costa Rica after wining in Nicaragua.
This competition usually consists of 130+ surfers from over 27 countries.
This is a very important year for the ISA as the International Olympic Committee (IOC) has just voted to have surfing become an Olympic sport for the 2020 games in Tokyo, Japan. This is huge for the surfing community and will open so many doors for the future of surfers (beginning to elite) around the world.
One of our Oshiis family members, Gilbert Brown, will proudly represent Costa Rica this week. Gilbert is one of our exceptional coaches, but that is just one small thing that embodies what Gilbert represents. In previous years, Gilbert was a coach for the junior national team for the ISA and incidentally, a front runner in this years competition. Gilbert and his teammates are ecstatic to represent Costa Rica amongst their global competition, and excited to train hard for an impending Olympic berth and hopefully, a GOLD in 2020!
