“We stayed here a month. Loved our stay in Puerto Viejo. The house is in the jungle, and it is a very typical Costa Rican house. Internet was great – fast and reliable for school and work conference calls. We didn’t have a car and I wouldn’t have changed that. We rode bikes everywhere. There is also a bus stop just on the main road if you want to go further. The shower has hot water. Hosts are lovely, genuine people.”
Located along the coast of the Caribbean Sea in southern Costa Rica, in the Talamanca province, Puerto Viejo is a gorgeous little surf and fishing village with a population of roughly 25,000. Puerto Viejo offers a unique culture that can only be found only in this part of the country thanks to the native cultures of Bri Bri Indian and Jamaican decedents. They used to call the town Old Harbor or Olaba until the Spanish arrived.
